JEEP SAFARI

Fethiye

JEEP SAFARI :

The land of lights, where the torrent of civilizations created in the time tunnel and gliding from inaccessible summits of wild Taurus Mountains meet to the foamy dark blue water of Mediterranean . Fethiye is a pretty town at the hillsides of the Mount Mendos, the part of the Tourus Mountain chains, and surrounds the bay that it has given its name to. The high mountain range formed by rises and falls of the crust during the Tertiary Geological Period, and hundreds of bays lying at the mountainside seem to embrace each other along the Fethiye shore line. This mountain range (it was called the Kragos and Antikragos in the antique period) with an altitude of more than 6560 feet (2000m.) forms the southwest end of the Toros (Taurus) chain and lies parallel to the shore without a single passage to the inner regions. On a warm and sunny winter day, peculiar to the Mediterranean climate while you are sipping at your Turkish tea or Turkish coffee, at one of the local tea gardens, along the coast, these mountains with pine trees at their skirts, white snow and mist on their summits will once more welcome you to heaven.

First stop is at Tlos where the flying horse Pegasus was living. You will be given info about the history of Tlos.

Second stop is Yakapark which is a protected national park and famous for its fish farm. The best place to taste real Turkish pancakes and see the fresh water running from the mountains. Also it's beautiful tropical gardens.

After Yakapark watch out for the local villagers whilst making your way to Saklikent. Here is the second longest canyon of Europe which is 18 km long and 300 metres high with a 20 metres high foot bridge leading to masses of ice spring water gushing down the rocks leading to a raging river you can cross with the help of a rope. On the other side of canyon you will have your lunch with a choice of foods where you can dine as the river flows below you .Saklikent is a place that must be seen at least once in a lifetime.

Then there is the mud bath. This mud contains sulphur which is healthy for your skin and watch out for the tour guides and their tricks. Later you will visit Xanthos which was the capital city of empire of Lycian from ancient times. According to history the Persian soldiers were about to kill the people of Xanthos so they all committed suicide. Here at Xanthos you can visit the ruins and listen to the amazing history about this extraordinary place.

Then finally at the end of an exciting day out you will visit Patara beach, the longest beach of Turkey, stretching to approx 22 km. You will have the chance to sunbath on this beautiful sandy beach and cool yourself down in a Mediterranean sea.

The whole day is captured on video camera so you can purchase a copy of this memorable day out.
